Planner House Party of the Planner Seatmates

I have met and known a lot of planner girls during the planner meet up edition of The Planner Affair. But there are these girls to whom I have gotten in touch since then. We call ourselves Planner Seatmates because of the obvious reason that we were seatmates during the planner affair. My planner seatmates are Ira Eijkelenboom, Kath dela Fuente, Cathrea Fernandez, Dianne, Noelle Amposta and Toni Protacio. We created a Facebook Group Chat to which we always talk about planner stuff, craft stuff sale and creative planning. We all became good friends already so we decided to organized our meet up again so we can catch up.

So what do we do during planner meet ups?

Planner meets are usually organized to catch up with planner girlfriends. We usually do creative planning. Some [online] craft shop owners give away samples and sell products. We also share our own craft supplies. Add up the chatting and eating!

Our planner meet happened last 8th of October. Each of us brought foods, and of course, we also brought our planner craft items to share.

I was in awe with Ira’s collection of washi tapes. She has a lot! All of them are gorgeous. We, the rest of the girls also brought ours so we spent the day rolling washi samples!

We also did a lot of stamping using Love Cynthia, Sweet Stamp Shop and other brand of clear stamps. One thing I love with these stamps is we can color it. Isn’t that one singing happy girl lovely with colors?

As I just came back to the creative planning world, I decorated my spreads to catch up. I am so happy doing this again now. I decorated my November 7 to 13 spread because I am excited to note down things and my itinerary for my vacation travel in Sagada.

At the end of the day, I had these lovely washi samples and a new Sweet Stamp Shop clear stamps Cathrea is selling which I can’t really say no. It’s too gorgeous and the stamps would really be helpful for me.

Lasting Impression: The Home of Craft Supplies in the Metro

If you are looking for a Craft Store which is in between north and south, I believe you have been hearing long about Lasting Impression. It is a one-stop shop for all scrap booking, paper and crafting needs. Guess you want to know more about this spot. Then, continue reading.

Lasting Impression is located at 216-A V. Ibanez Street, Brgy Little Baguio, San Juan City . First and foremost, there is no direct way on getting there thru public jeepneys. Only via cab or your own private car. However, in my case as a born explorer, me and my boyfriend managed to get there by walking. Okay, let’s start.

From EDSA south, drop by Robinsons Galleria and use the footbridge to go to the other side.
Ride a jeepney going to Greenhills.
From Greenhills, walk towards the intersection which has the Wilson St signage. and cross on to the pedestrian to get to the side where you can see Caltex.
Walk straight (you will walk inside a subdivision. I believe this is a 15-20 minute walk hahaha!) until you see Gloria Maris and then turn right .
Continue walking. Noticeable establishments are Country Chicken and Serenitea. If you pass by a Korean Salon, you are already near.
Turn right on V. IBAÑEZ street and then look for a yellow house. Look for the door with doorbell and sign of letter “A”.

As you go inside, you will pass by tables with planners, planner inserts, craftmate folio and other planner essentials. I was drooling over the color crush planners. I like it but I have my own binder already so I’ll just settle on admiring its beauty.

We were assisted on going to the main store. Most of the items are on the second floor of the house. You will be welcomed with this huge rack of inks, stamp pads and for those who are into embossing, they have embossing powder.

And then for creative planners, these are the products that most of you would surely want to check. I personally looked for the availability of these so that I would know what to get on next visit.

Acrylic Stamps – lately, I have been really fond on using clear stamps. Acrylic or Clear stamps have been popular nowadays to scrapbookers and planner girls. These are transparent stamps that are are sticky on the back and are placed on an acrylic block for stamping. Lasting Impression has a loooooooooooooot from different manufacturers.

They have this big acrylic stamp and large collection of ink stamps.

A wide range of ink stamps are also available. All can be seen on big racks. Prices differ per brand and the cheapest I saw was I think P110.00.

For those who are into journaling using Journal Cards/Specialty Cards, there are also variety of cards available just like these.

Those are the items I looked for at Lasting Impression that helps me in my creative planning hobby. Sssshhh. I know you’d love to know too. Hahahahaha. Meantime, here’s my set up for my Journal Binder using the Heidi Swapp Memory Planner List Pad in floral. It only costs P150.00. It’s for 4 rings so I covered the edges with washi tapes and punched 6 holes to it.

My 1st Planner Meetup at The Habbit

Creative Planning is an addicting hobby. At this stage, it is for me. Although, I am seeing more of it as positive because I became more organized and I follow my schedule strictly now. I guess, it’s how you manage the hobby, yes?

Just recently, I attended my very first Planner Meet up. It was last Sunday, June 5^thheld at The Habbit, Congressional Quezon City for Planner Girls from the North. As I already know that there are a lot of people who are into this creative hobby, I decided to join when I saw an invite on the Journal & Planner Enthusiast Facebook Group. I wanted to get inspirations from other planner girls and pundits. Luckily, I got a slot. <confetti please!>

The Habbit is a cafe/restaurant where you can play board games, card games and eat at the same time. It’s owned by one of the organizers of the meet up. I was welcomed with a crowd of boys and girls who are playing cards. I also sawtwo cabinets. One is full of toys, action figures and board game displays and one is full of washi tapes, clips, stickers and stamps. My eyes sparkled seeing the craft supplies.

I was literally “nalula” with all the girls stash/planner supplies. I didn’t brought a lot since it’s bulky and heavy. Hahaha. Anyhow, we began with getting to know. We stated our names, when did we start doing the hobby and what planner are we using. It’s so nice to know people who are busy in their respective field and found planning a big help with their daily lives. <wink>

After the getting to know, we started the planning session! Summer of Planners and Journals brought a lot from her stash and allowed us to use them. She got a lot of clear stamps, punchers, Project Life cards, washi tapes and others. Everyone started designing already. While crafting, we were served with our orders like french fries, sandwiches, lemon iced tea and fried chicken. How can you not enjoy?

I started decorating my week spread on my Kikki.K Cute Planner. I printed ombre watercolor boxes in matte sticker paper so I can write over them. I put the boxes because the quality of paper is thin causing pen to bleed on the other side of the page.

It was announced that they will organize monthly meet ups. This is so other planner girls can attend also on the next hang outs. We were all giddy to know about since we will be able to know and meet other girls. I wish I can make it most of the time.

My followers and frequent readers already know how I am so inclined with Creative Planning. I design my planner and makes me enjoy planning tasks ahead of the week. One thing I never forget to use are stickers. I go crazy over them whenever I see new designs from my favorite craft supplies store.

Just recently, I received sets of stickers and clips from Papermela (formelly, Bella Storia MNL). Papermela is an online (instagram and facebook) and etsy store. The owner/designer Domina Carmela started her business October 2013 under the label Hacked Craft. She later on closed due to priorities but reopened 14^th March of this year and renamed her store to Papermela. This shop now has collections of Chibi and Kawaii emoji stickers, paper clips, planner kit bundle and sticky notes.

Why I love the Kawaii Emoji Stickers

I am so excited to show you the beautiful kawaii stickers from this shop. I got the camera kawaii, shopping bag kawaii and laundry cleaning kawaii set. Here are reasons why I love them!

1. It Has an Effective Packaging

The stickers are sealed in a zip lock packaging inside a small brown envelope. This way, you are sure that even if the envelope gets wet, your stickers are safe.

2. These are the Stickers a Planner Enthusiast Needs

As a planner enthusiast, I prefer stuff that are related to planning. Papermela has most of everything you will be needing. For students, you can buy their tuition fee kawaii to remind you that you need to pay for your tuition fee already. For happy go lucky people, if you plan to have some me time – there is a shopping bag, pop corn, donut, coffee and green tea kawaii sets. You can also remind yourself when to pay dues as you can put your car bills, water bills and rent payment kawaii sets on your respective planners.

3. Great Print Quality

I printed my own stickers before but didn’t get the correct colour that resembles the image itself. I used a glossy sticker paper back then and some get smudged. The stickers I received are printed in matte sticker paper. The images are not blurred nor have spots. No smudges at all too. Surely, inks used are for high quality printing.

I also like the idea of using matte sticker paper. Matte is somehow near to the texture of an “oslo” paper. It makes the sticker look like not a sticker. Hahaha. I hope you get what I mean. It’s like it is printed or drawn on the paper of the planner spread itself. Plus, if you decide to have the planner sticker bundle, you will be able to write on the checklists and the weekly box sticker.

4. Easy to Peel and Perfectly Cut

I really had to compare these stickers to the flags and box edges design sticker I just recently baught. It’s hard to peel off and the edges are tearing. Very disappointing. Papermela’s not. The spaces between the stickers are in proportion that I think it’s the reason why each was cut evenly resulting to easy peeling.

So I said it’s perfectly cut. Why? Because there isn’t any part of the image that’s wrongly cut. I stalked the shop’s Instagram Account and saw the crafty owner/creator uses a Cricut Explore Air. To how that machine is being programmed to cut the stickers, I don’t know. I just believe Domina and the machine are bestfriends. Hahahaha!

Now let’s have a look on the clips.

Why I adore the clips

I orded two clips from their Etsy Shop. One is the Floral Dress Paper Clip and the other is the Vintage Floral Shoulder Bag. I always want things with a touch of pink. Bet it’s super obvious with the clips!

Clips are crafted by no less the owner of course. It’s a little embossed because there is a canvass underneath the die cuts. The whole dress and the vintage bag was smeared with a clear glue to make sure the die cuts are intact with the canvass and to keep the color from fading.

I attached the Floral Dress Clip on my Kikki.K Planner Dashboard. The Vintage Floral Shoulder Bag makes me easier to go to this week’s spread.

Overall, I am impresses with all that I received from that little brown envelope. I suggest you checking Papermela’s etsy and online shops now and see how Domina’s designs and craft products can make your planners and simple journals beautiful. Trust me. You’ll never regret. The girl’s crafting since childhood.

The Art of Creative Planning

We are now in the technology era. In this age, as we may all notice, a lot of things can be squeezed into your mobile phones or tablets. Calendars, tasks, memos and reminders apps are very much useful as it can all be opened and synced on these smaller devices. But in this digital world, there still has been a blossoming community of people who have found love again on using the “old school” planners and journals. And this is not just the simple use of it. Owners are incorporating it with art as what we call it today as creative planning.

The Art of Creative Planning

To start with, planners and journals are commonly being used to organize and keep track on plans. What not’s, to finish, to blog, to read and other to do’s are things planner owners would usually put on it. With arts and crafts tools come creative planning. Creative Planning is decorating planners while not losing its functionality.

On Instagram, you would usually see wildly used hashtags like #PlannerCommunity, #PlannerEnthusiast #PlannerGirl, #PlannerJunkie and more. These Instagram users are those who are in to this bandwagon. I have lived to think that the “bandwagon” word connotes negativity. It’s like you just want to jump in because it’s cool. Well, the planner bandwagon isn’t. It’s positive. It is worth a hobby to jump in.

The start…

I started doing this early last year. I am a scrapbooker. One time, I am filling my Belle De Jour Power Planner with magazine cut outs and stickers when I decided why not I do that for the rest of the planner’s pages. I looked for inspirations and to my surprised; this hobby has been going for quite a while already.

How do you do it?

Maybe you are asking what are the supplies planner junkies use to decorate their planners. How can someone call it creative planning? To start off, what are the [brand] planners that we have.? In my case, I have a BDJ Planner which I have been buying annually for 3 years already; I also have a Kikki.K Medium Cute Planner which I won from Pretty Planners Birthday Giveaway and a red generic journal I personally bought for 200 bucks at a local bookstore. I know for a reader who is not into this hobby would somehow raise their eyebrows and ask, “what’s the need to have more than 1 planner?” Let’s just look on my case. As a blogger, a specialist and a part time businesswoman, I need more than 1 planner to be sure everything gets done. Here’s how I use them. (NOTE: I am not suggesting to get more than 1 planner and journal. This is just how I want to be organized.)

BDJ Planner – tracking orders on my retail business, work related stuff, bills and expenses
Kikki.K – blog events to attend, birthdays (using the birthday inserts), lists of restaurants to visit (using Kikki.k’s Shops and Restaurants inserts), to blog, to do’s.
Generic Journal – as this is a journal, this is where I write my article/blog drafts.

There’s also a lot more brands of planners and journals in the market. Among the common planners my fellow planner enthusiasts use are Titta Witty Planner, Filofox FauxDori/Midori Travelers Notebook, Webster Pages, Happy Planner, Erin Condren, Hobonichi and Love Doki.

Inspiration

I asked my fellow planner girls on how they got inspired to be engaged to the hobby of decorating planners and the common reason is the love for cute stuff, scrap books and stationery. Some got inspired too when they saw their friends and relatives happily doing this hobby. Others started doing it when they saw random videos on YouTube and, simply because they just love writing, scribbling and crafting.

Ever since I was in high school, I’ve been always a collector of journals and stationery… I’ve seen a lot of ladies posting a picture of their planner layouts, I found it very.. Umm.. I can’t explain. Then I decided to buy a planner from Typo, and [eventually] created an IG account dedicated only to this hobby.

Why design?

For me, I design my planner because it makes everything personalized. I love looking at it especially that I know I did it by myself. Colors make my day lively. Especially bright colors. When you look at my planner, it will suggest to you a specific theme.

Being organized and creative combined

Creative Planning is a good way to show creativity. You get to enjoy scheduling your tasks ahead because you also enjoy designing and decorating. When people see my planner, I would usually hear comments like – “I used to do scrapbooking/designing before when I was young” or “I was too busy I don’t have time. ” We must admit that career women/men [of course! Creative planning is not just for girls] and parents are busy people. I am too. But that’s why a planner is needed. It will keep you on track so you will know which task(s) should be prioritized or not. I like scrapbooking/designing too when I was young. The time I missed doing scrapbooking a lot is the time I decided – why not incorporate it while planning? That way, I was able to rekindle my love for crafts.
